Exhibition on Cinema Heritage of Nashik

Date – 30 Nov 2023, 7.00 PM to 8.30 PM
Inauguration by Mr. Niranjan Oak, Owner, Circle Cinema, Nashik

The exhibition is a pilot historical work to recover and collect historical film publicity material that comes from non-institutional archives but by private collections and holdings. This work aims at developing discourses on Heritage democratization within the context of Indian cinema and brings to the fore personal and intimate histories. This is an exploratory work which looks at citizen narratives, to make them become protagonists of history-making. Abhivyakti Media for Development, Nashik along with Dr Monia Acciari (De Montfort University, Leicester, UK) have begun collaborating to actualize such terms and bring them to the forefront through the exhibition. The response to the exhibition was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees praising the innovative curation and thought-provoking artworks on display. The exhibition drew a large crowd, who not only enjoyed it but also actively engaged by sharing articles and personal reflections. Conversations flourished as attendees delved into their past experiences, contributing to the event’s vibrant atmosphere. Furthermore, the exhibition garnered significant media attention and enthusiastic participation from the public. We  hope that this effort will become in time a permanent citizen-heritage-hub, the first of many in the country.
